netflix screen lock

It’s OK, we’ve all been there – streaming several hours of The Office in bed, squinting away at our phone screen. But moving that phone around always results in accidental screen presses, pausing or skipping the action to your annoyance.

On iOS and Android, that is no longer a problem. The Netflix app for both platforms is now rolling out a ‘screen lock’ toggle on the playback screen that locks the touchscreen, meaning you can’t accidentally ruin your show by pausing or skipping ahead (via 9to5Google).

A tap once locks, while a tap and a tap to confirm unlocks. It’s a simple addition, but one that should prove useful if you’re moving your phone around the house or room (or bed, let’s be realistic) while you churn through Tiger King.

It’ll also be a useful feature for parents who want to stick on a show on a phone or tablet to keep their toddler occupied and don’t want them to accidentally pause it or navigate away.

The update has already rolled out to our Android and iOS devices. Go and update your apps and enjoy another thoughtful UI addition to our most treasured of lockdown services.
